Dajana Cvjetković, Programme Manager in CPCD presented the Ethical codex and explained to attendees its practical application but also the potential to use it in further advocacy activities. For more than 20 years, CPCD has been promoting principles of good governance in civil sector and the necessity to act in accordance with highest standards to fulfil the missions and visions of the organizations, and to make BiH a better place to live. Ethical codex is just one of CPCD’s initiatives that a hundred signatories of the Codex support. This family of Ethical codex signatories were joined by 12 CSOs from Zenica that advocate for promotion and principles of good governance in CSOs in BiH.
Ethical codex determines core values and principles that the signatories will uphold in their work. Codex is a cluster of basic norms, principles and values established with the goal to standardize behaviour and activities of CSOs. NGOs and non-profits are responsible for their work and results to users and partners, but also to the citizens, public and communities. Professionalism and responsibility are starting points and a sort of a stimulus for all CSOs, citizens and local communities to get actively involved in resolutions of their issues.
By supporting them and empowering their confidence, based on the principles of the Codex, CSOs will contribute to their full and active involvement in decision making processes on issues that influence their everyday lives. It is important to emphasize that that contribution should be based on solidarity, respect of dignity and integrity of each individual and basic priorities and goal that communities set themselves.
Ethical codex is a term for organizations that want to be responsible, conduct business in accordance with the law and principles of good governance and those that put their users first.
