

This month was especially dedicated to the activities of our partners, Eco HUBs, which marked the approach of spring with various activities – with the celebration of the International Day for the Protection of Forests – March 21, World Water Day – March 22, and the Hour for Planet Earth – March 27 with a synchronized call for action towards their local communities.
On the occasion of World Water Day, Eco HUB Sarajevo prepared a video that drew attention to the burning environmental problem of pollution of Vrelo Bosne with feces. On the occasion of the International Forest Protection Day – March 21, Eco HUB Zenica organized an online public lecture “Forests and urban greenery of the Zenica area and Bosnia and Herzegovina.” Also, on the occasion of the World Water Day, Eco HUB Zenica visited the local community Janjići because of the launched civic initiative for the protection of Janjići waterfalls – signing a petition against the construction of HPP Janjići.
Eco HUB Banja Luka, together with PD Kesten from Derventa, marked the Markovac trail. The initiative was implemented before the celebration of the International Day for the Protection of Forests (March 21), to make it easier for walkers to navigate in nature. On the International Forest Protection Day – March 21, Eco HUB Banja Luka organized a promotional campaign “Plant a fruit tree”. Active citizens who visited the Banja Luka picnic area Banj brdo (Šehitluke), had the opportunity to pick up one of 40 apple seedlings of domestic indigenous species.
On the occasion of the International Forest Protection Day – March 21, and World Water Day – March 22, Eco HUB Blagaj organized educational presentations with Sanel Riđanović, Ph.D., professor of biology, on “Rivers of BiH”.
With the support of the Municipal Assembly of Laktasi and the mayor, Eco Hub Laktasi symbolically marked the International Day of Forests – 21.3. by performing works on the location of the forest park which is part of the Domestica estate.
Eco HUB Mostar organized a working action of afforestation of the city trim trail (city forest park better known as Trimuša).
Eco HUB Mrkonjić Grad, which works on nature conservation in the municipalities of Šipovo, Ribnik, Jezero, Glamoč, and Mrkonjić Grad, organized an action to clean the local community of Pecka.
In addition to individual activities, all nine Eco HUBs in a unique way jointly marked the global initiative – Hour for Planet Earth, with a call for action to turn off the lights for an hour across the planet.
The guest of this month’s podcast was Amila Gadžo, a master of landscape architecture and horticulture from Sarajevo.
