Among other things, July marked the selection for the best video on the topic of “Summer Eco Vacation”. We have invited young people (from 13 to 30 years old) to participate in the prize video competition “Summer Eco Holiday” with a short video lasting a minimum of 15 seconds and a maximum of 60 seconds.
As part of the “I plant, and you?” Campaign, we have included an additional 50 new gardeners this season. We were joined by gardeners with no previous experience and knowledge, to learn how to form their first mini edible gardens up to 5 m2, on balconies, terraces, or backyards. Each applicant who met these criteria received a packet of seedlings and seedlings at home to start, nurture and love such a garden through learning.
The guest of the new and at the same time last episode for this podcast season is the ultra more interesting and professional Andrej Gajić.
However, what most marked the “Think of Nature!” Project in July was the eco-camp for young people. Almost 60 young people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, nature lovers and activists for its protection spent the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, at the Summer Camp for Youth “Think Nature!” on Igman where they had fun, got to know nature, and deepen their knowledge in the field of environmental protection. The summer camp certainly brought wonderful moments for its participants. Among them, students of forestry, biology, environmental protection, ecology, environmental activists… But also those who are not directly related to this profession but environmental protection is perhaps the most important issue of our time is certainly of interest. Young people from Sarajevo, Mostar, Bihać, Pale, Banovići, Zenica, Banja Luka, and other different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to listen to lectures by experts who spoke about environmental protection from different angles. Prominent Mostar journalist Sanel Kajan spoke about his experience in dealing with environmental issues in journalism, biodesigner Maja Halilović on youth activism in this field through a creative and artistic approach, Vladimir Grabovac as founder and director of producers of health, wellness and organic industry “Biona & Beyond” spoke about the importance of environmentally and generally, socially responsible companies, Nađa Sinanović from World Wildlife Fund Adria spoke about their project on protected areas and the role of the civil sector in this area… Participants also deal with the environment from different spheres, so it was interesting to hear their opinions on all these issues.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn about specific skills that will be useful to them in this activism, among other things, at a lecture on advocacy by Diana Cvjetković, coordinator of the project “Think Nature!”.
After three days of socializing, learning, and having fun, the young people parted ways with the promise to continue socializing but, more importantly, to work together to protect the environment.
